Sixty one killed in Gaza since Sunday, over 450 wounded, more than 55 houses destroyed

Update 29.30 hrs: Two more people have been killed in Gaza on Wednesday evening, which brings the total death toll in Gaza since Monday evening to 52, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. Over 450 Palestinians have been injured in the attacks. Six women and nine children were among 22 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza on Wednesday, medics said. If we also count the nine that were killed by airstrikes on Sunday, the total death toll stands at 61. More than fifty five family houses have been targeted and completely destroyed. Palesdtinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday accused Israel of committing "genocide" in Gaza during its military campaign.
An airstrike struck the Hamad family home in Beit Hanoun, killing Hani Saleh Hamad (57) and Ibrahim Hamad (20). (Five members of the same family were already killed late Tuesday as Israeli warplanes bombed the home of senior Islamic Jihad militant Hafiz Hamad in the same area). Another airstrike in Rafah killed an elderly Palestinian woman and injured eight others. Amjad Hamdan, 23, was also killed in an airstrike outside of his home in Beit Hanoun. He was allegedly a member of Islamic Jihad's military wing.
Before that Muhammad Khalaf al-Nawasrah, 4, Nidal Khalaf al-Nawasrah (a toddler), and their mother Sumud al-Nawasrah were killed when an Israeli missile hit their home in the Maghazi camp in central Gaza. Two other children are reported missing, with their bodies believed to be buried under rubble.
A 40-year-old woman, Sahar Hamdan al-Masri and her teenage son 14-year-old Ibrahim, were killed after an Israeli missile hit their house in Beit Hanoun. Shortly before that, an Israeli airstrike killed 22-year-old Muhammad Khalid al-Nimrah in Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City. Earlier Wednesday, year-and-a half-old Muhammad Malaka and his 27-year-old mother Aminah Malaka were killed along with a young man Hatim Abu Salim by an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City. A few names are still mssing from this list.

In the morning the death was announced of the 60-year-old Abd al-Nasser Abu Kweik and his 31-year-old son Khaled, killed in a strike on Nuseirat refugee camp. An airstrike hit al-Mughraqa village in central Gaza, killing the 80-year old woman Nayfa Farajallah. Thirty year old Rafiq al-Kafarna was killed as Israeli warplanes targeted his motorcycle in Beit Lahiya, one person was critically injured in this attack.
Haartez reports that during the night the homes of eight senior Hamas operatives were bombed, including those of Khan Yunis division commander Muhammad Sinwar and Rafah division commander Ra'ed Atar. The army justifies this by contending that these family houses were used as ''command centers''.
Accordiong to Haartez Israel executed 160 airstrikes overnight. Tens of rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, causing alarm sirens to go off in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, places in central Israel and as far as Zichron Yaacov 120 km north of Gaza. Three missiles fell into the sea off teh coast from Haifa. Seven Israeli's were lightly wounded. They tripped over when running to the shelters.
On the edge of Ramallah, Palestinian protesters set fire to bushes, trees and tires near the Israeli army’s Civil Administration in the Beit El settlement. Eleven Palestinians were wounded by live fire and rubber bullets, one seriously.Othesr were woudned dureing clashes in El Bireh, Jenin and Hebron.
In East Jerusalem, clashes broke out between Palestinians and Israeli police arrested 13 people. At a protest in Shfaram, inside Israel, police arrested seven Palestinians.
In the center of Jerusalem racist slogans, including “death to Arabs” and “price tag,” were spray painted in several locations overnight.
